The Sound of Music

THE HILLS ARE ALIVE!

The Multiple Sclerosis Society of Western Australia will present the world's most loved musical, The Sound of Music at the Regal Theatre from October 7 to 17 with tickets going on sale to the general public from February 1.

The famous musical will be the seventh production in the Society’s history of annual musical theatre presentations at the Subiaco venue. It will be directed by acclaimed musical theatre director and designer, John Senczuk whose production of Les Misérables for MS WA last year broke box office records.

Based on the uplifting true story of the Von Trapp family, The Sound of Music marked the final collaboration of the legendary song-writing duo, Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II. A huge success from its stage debut in 1957 (winning six Tony Awards), The Sound of Music was made into a film in 1965 (winning five Oscars) becoming one of the most successful and popular film musicals ever.

Set in Austria in the lead up to the Second World War, the musical’s timeless message of triumph over adversity and its memorable score (including My Favourite Things, Do-Re-Mi, Edelweiss, Climb Every Mountain, Sixteen Going on Seventeen, The Lonely Goatherd and the glorious title song, The Sound of Music) continue to speak to people of all ages.

Limited season. Don’t miss out! Click here to purchase your tickets from Ticketek.

My Fair Ladies

El I can tell you with the My Fair Ladies that Both theatres had confirmed their productions and then announced within about a week of each other... The only people who KNEW that both productions were going on BEFORE they were announced were the rights holders. Roleystone were orginally planning to do Guys & Dolls in that season and changed to MFL when they found out that ManPAC were doing G&D this year, so as not to clash with them. Funnily enough, even though Roley and Marloo are far closer than Roley and ManPAC, Roley and ManPAC share more of a catchment than Roley and Marloo... bizarre but true! The ITA keep trying to get theatres to tell us what they are planning so we can avoid this, but there always seems to be at least one show a year that is repeated, and quite often it seems to be between Roley & Marloo. And hey, it's still not as bad as two years ago when ManPAC and G&S did Pirates of Penzance LITERALLY AT THE SAME TIME
