I'm with John. Well done to the committee for all the hard work leading up to, and over the weekend. Although we didn't take any silverware home this year, it was a great pleasure to participate, and to listen to Ian Toyne's dissertation on Monday. I certainly picked up a few tips from him, that can only improve my own acting and directing. Congratulations to all participants and award winners. www.meltheco.org.au

May seem presumptous given I took a gong but as Ian said "one mans opinion" and I've been told my performance didn't convince all so I'll remain even about the whole thing. Nice to get tips not only about the play I was involved in but acting and theatre as a whole in a 2 hour dissertation by a professionally trained man. Recognised some weaknesses in my own performance and some reinforcement for things I should just go with. Informative and helpful- thanks Ian, the ITA, Kerry Hilton, Stephen Lee (for his feedback) and of course Danni and the cast AND crew of Trainspotting. Also, thanks Peter Clark and the Hills festival for reinforcing that my instincts were the way to go - I took a lot from the feedback (which was uniform) from both the Hills and Dramafest festivals. It proves to me that feedback from adjudicators is both helpful and supportive. I learned a lot - thanks to both Ian AND Peter.

Oh, one further thing

...Thanks to Karin Staflund - recipent of Best Supporting Actor (Female) who first cast me in a play 9 and a half years ago and infused me with a real love of theatre and a belief in what I could achieve. Thanks Karin- it's been too long, let's do something together again!!!!!

congrats murray. I will pass your kind words onto Karin. She was thrilled by the way to win. Was giving up acting before I conned her into doing this play. Now decided she does want to keep going. Congrats to everyone involved in the organisation of a huge job. Cheers Christine Ellis

Phoenix that's great!

You all have come along way from the flamin Cockpit 'n jion the mile high klub.

I know Hywell was wrapped with the Sr Norberts venue because he could set the lights easily, even though he had a broken arm, sustained while falling off the bio box [ashtry] acess ladder at the Memorial Hall.

Pity I missed being able to front up on staturday, but it was the chauffeurs rostered day off. I didn't trust myself to go to the Dramafest by public transport, as I wouldn't have had a minder with me, to tell me when to ring the bell,

Awards

Had an oscar been available, Murray would have been a worthy contender,as indeed, would all the Trainspotting cast.That said, one could be forgiven for placing more value on the Dramafest award, given that it's an award for acting, rather than a promotional tool for those pulling the Hollywood purse strings.

Well deserved thank you

I think All the ITA team deserve a huge thank you. There is a lot of preparation to any event that is usually very thankless. So from the Mandurah Mob, a big thank you for making this event possible year after year. Dramafest is a wonderful outlet for local theatre particularly drama. In Mandurah we tend to be suffering with what I term Musicalitis. So the Festival weekends (including Bunbury & Hills) are something I look forward to all year. Only 347 days to go.

what did i say wrong?

what did i say wrong? simply a light hearted observation. i didn't realise that it would be such a problem. I appologise to murray and all those associated with the festival. i would also like to appologise to my parents, friends and teachers. most of all i would like to appologise to mrs rothmans who if it weren't for her, i would never have persued my love for all things theatre...mrs rothmans this ones for you

You missed some things

You should apologise for your spelling, your sentence construction, lack of capitals, lack of punctuation, lack of guts in identifying yourself, and failure to provide anything valuable to this site or indeed theatre in Perth. From what I can see your entire life is an apology of sorts so perhaps you could also apologise for stealing oxygen? Better still, just apologise off - there's a good chap.

A big vote of thanks from all of us "way out East" in Kalgoorlie. Stage Left Theatre Troupe Goldfields WA Inc. was the only regional club in the Drama Fest this year & whilst it was a bit of a walk to get there (some 600kms) it was well worth it. Congrats to Kimberley, Norma and the tireless ITA committee for an excellent festival. To the unstoppable and amazing Kerri Hilton for providing an excellent venue for the occasion. To Barbara - the most amazing, unflappable, spot-on Stage Manager we've ever had the pleasure of working with (on a number of occasions now) To Mel and to Paul for sound and lighting, again, giving up their time and making everything possible for 24 plays, was awesome. Thank you! And to Ian Toyne - for his excellent dissertation, constructive critiques and feedback. For many of our Troupe members who were Festival "virgins" this was invaluable in every way. They have all come away enriched, enlightened, educated and entertained. Thank you all. Congrats to all the winners. And congrats to ALL the entrants. The fact that you were there, you were part of it all, that you contributed to this amazing and wonderful thing called "community theatre" is truly wonderful in itself. As for the celebratory "skinny dipping" in the pool... & a rather entertaining card game involving some of the Drama Fest crew..... well, that's another story. "What happens on Stage Left road trips stays on Stage Left road trips......" Hee hee :) PS: you are all welcome to come to Kal and join us for Theatre in the Bush!
