I often see people leaving messages for groups on their group page - there have been acouple today. Unless the group administrator has set up to recieve an email when someone post on their page, they will probably be unaware or you post. Group pages, Audition notices, Venue hire and Production booking notices almost always have a contact email and/or phone number supplied. Direct your enquiries to the supplied contact details. That's what it's there for. Leaving a response under the post will probably not be seen by the intended recipient.

You forget one thing Jeff: that people will read this. The issue is that most people are not regulars of this site and won't know how it all works. It's like people leaving messages for companies on venue listings, even though the venue listings have nothing to do with the companies themselves and are just there for purposes of posting events/auditions/whatever listings. Part of me thinks we should hide these venue listings altogether, because people do leave odd info (ie. the one today where the guy left his postal details, thinking that this is the official site for a venue). Not to mention people don't realise perhaps what this site is, which is a large forum. I think many just can't be assed, and it's easy to type out a reply. Whereas it may be harder to pick up a phone and dial. (This is from experience with my site. Many people will email or leave comments on my site, asking me for info. When all they had to do was actually read the page they were on, and they'd find all the info they need. Often I send a reply to them which basically contains a short hello and a link to the page that is relevant. It's repetitive, and it's all because people skim things hoping that the info is big, bold and takes two seconds to find. If they don't find it in two seconds, they think the info isn't there) Puppets and patterns at Puppets in Melbourne
