Hi everyone, I am a young lighting designer looking to expand on my "scholary" knowledge. Things like the history of design, learning about different common eras in which theatre might be set, design principles, history of theatre, playwrights, etc. I know this is very broad but I was wondering if anyone out there had any really top books they could recommend. I'm just trying to get some ideas and get my hands on some books rather than trawling through Google (which is a great resource, but there's a lot out there). I'm NOT so much interested in "Principles of Lighting Design" books as I have a few of those... I'm more into getting a more well rounded knowledge base. Thanks in advance, Nicola

I'm sure others will come

I'm sure others will come along with some suggestions, but in the meantime, check out the FAQ: http://www.theatre.asn.au/book_page/theatre_lighting_resources There's some good stuff there about lighting, including some book references. Puppets and patterns at Puppets in Melbourne
