RUTHLESS! (PLAYLOVERS) - SOMETHING NEW AND DIFFERENT FOR THE MALE CHARACTER ACTOR.

Playlovers' November musical RUTHLESS! is an all-female show with a twist...one of the women is a little more broad-shouldered, deeper-voiced and perhaps muskier than the others... SYLVIA ST. CROIX is a sinister talent scout, whose own opportunities for fame and fortune have long passed her by, and who now sets her sights on propelling Tina Denmark, a talented eight-year old, to stardom by any means necessary. Sylvia is written as a female part, but has been traditionally performed by a male. It is not a 'drag' role, but rather a meaty and enjoyable part for a skilled actor to sink their teeth into. Deceitful, manipulative and driven by a dark secret that is not revealed until late in the second act, the role of SYLVIA forms the dramatic core of RUTHLESS, and is an excellent showpiece for a male character actor in search of a challenge. The character sings two songs, but brilliant vocal ability is not necessary. A strong actor who can carry a tune will more than suffice! The character's stage age is between 50 and 60, but the production team are willing to consider all actors as long as they can adequately portray a person of that age. Auditions take place on July 19th so, if you’re interested, book on 0429 115 843, or email tyler-j-jones@hotmail.com!
