WAAPA Enquiry
Thu, 18 June 2009, 01:33 pmI know that WAAPA auditionees should be strong in singing, acting and dance, but I've heard that WAAPA looks for strengths in specific areas at different times. For example someone told me that a few years ago they accepted alot of auditionees who were strong singers and actors more so than dancers, but in other years they've taken mostly strong dancers who they can train to sing and act. Does anyone know if they are looking for anything specific for next year??
Leaning towards the singing

For the most part, I actually think they're more focused on the singing. The few times I've auditioned, majority of the comment or feedback has been singing-related and never once addressed my monologues.
Having said that they do stress to auditionees that you have to MUST have recent training in jazz dancing, regardless of whether you might have trained for 8 years in ballet and other forms of dance in the past as a child, it must be recent.
