THE ITA WANTS YOU! The Independent Theatre Association are seeking expressions of interest from Perth performers who would care to volunteer their time and skill to a fundraising cabaret night for community theatre's umbrella organization. In the tradition of last year's Treading the Boards concert, this year's show is themed "The Role I'm Wrong For", and is designed to be a bright, brisk evening of entertainment celebrating the roles you've always wanted to play, but for one reason or another would never be cast as... For example: - Want to be in West Side Story but don't look Puerto Rican? - Dream of getting the lead in Hairspray, but far too thin? - Desperate to play a leading man...but you're a woman? The performance will take place over two nights; Friday July 31st and Saturday August 1st, at Hackett Hall in Floreat. There will be three rehearsals prior to the performance, on the 22nd, 26th and 29th July, for which all performers must be available. The evening will be broken into segments: - Gender Confusion! The role you'd love to play if only you were the correct gender. - Age Inappropriate! The role you'd love to play, but are too young, or too old for. - What If... The role you'd love to play, but seem physically unsuitable for. - Open or Other. The role you'd love to play, but which doesn't fit into any category listed above! We are principally looking for solo and group musical performances, but are open to any suggestions of other performances related to the theme that may be included. If possible we'd like the performers involved to represent an adequate cross-section of Perth community theatre. If you are interested in being involved, please email tyler-j-jones@hotmail.com, before Monday June 15th, with your name and a brief description of The Role you are wrong for! Auditions will be conducted as necessary, but hopefully all those interested can be involved in some capacity. Thanks!
