Community Spirit lives
Mon, 27 Apr 2009, 09:04 pmAnother wonderous Perth day, and here we are, spending it inside a blackended theatre. Are we crazy? Positively 'in sane' man!Three full days 10AM - 7PM! We're tired, but satisfied (?) This thing we're doing is finally taking shape, and not before time! Now, I'm sure there's many among you who've been doing the very same thing as us this Anzac Day long weekend. We must all have some kind of Dracula fetish. Anyway, I can say, that we're good an ready to face the English in a few days time.
On a slightly different note, this little show we've put together has brought a mix of people together for a short time. Our own small community as it were, with one common aim. To one day find a life. Until then, Dracula it is.
I will if I may, publicly thank some of our small community for their help with BANNOCKBURN!
My partner MARIE for running here there and everywhere, and for living without having a partner for the past 3 months.
SUE RUMMER for the delicous food ,and encouragement.'
Our CAST for giving up their long weekend for the chance to smell the blood of an Englishman!
Mr HYWEL WILLIAMS for once again going beyond the call of duty in every way.
ROB HARWOOD for coming on board to do our sound at the last moment.
AND SPECIAL THANKS TO ONE OF COMMUNITY THEATRE'S STALWARTS. MR GRAEME JOHNSON who upon hearing that Rob couldn't join us today, volunteered to help us with our sounds. I don't think you can buy that kind of spirit, but if any of you know where they sell lit I want their address! GRAEME, please accept the sincere gratitude of our highland clan.
Now. I'm not going to finish this diatribe without asking some of you to join us at the Phoenix this coming week. And don't worry! I'm not going to rave on about how great the script is, or how brilliant the director is, cos that would be lying! But I am going to stick my neck out and tell you how bloody good the cast are! I'm damn proud of em, and I'm noo ashamed to admit it! So join us, and see for yerself. Tickets are not quite as scarce as hens teeth as yet, far from it, but once word gets out, man, you'll have to hunt high and low for a ticket! And, if you choose not to come, that's alreet! We'll just turn on the mock applause and have a great time. Of course my bank manager will foreclose my account as he's promised to do post our previous five productions, but hey, he's got nothing to worry about. New plays by local writers bring them out in their droves.... and the bastards holding me to that!
until next time....
