Classes for Actors.

Two classes for actors will be offered this May/June by noted Perth actor/director Stephen Lee

When:  May 2,16,23, 30 and June 6
Where:  Blue Room Theatre; James St; Northbridge
What:  Two separate classes will available:

1  Method Acting  (11 am - 1.45)

A five week course covering the essentials of Stanislavski's Method

a.. Images and Emotion memory
b.. Finding Truth in performance
c.. Units and Objectives
d.. Obstacles to Action

e.. Layering

We shall also cover the basics of comedic performing. Method is not (as some feel) a load of arty-farty pretentious rubbish, but a common sense aid to an actor in using his or her imagination.  This course will be a wonderful help both to any young actor starting out and the more experienced performer who wishes to hone and discipline their work.

2  Playing Shakespeare (2.15 - 5.00pm)

A five week course covering the performing of Shakespeare or any Elizabethan/Jacobean works.

a.. Elizabethan Language
b.. Verse speaking
c.. The Snowball effect
d.. Conventions of the Shakespearean stage.

Love acting, but always been scared off by playing the Bard?  Or just want to explore and refine your skills a little further?  Stephen Lee has thirty years of experience directing and teaching Shakespeare (including Lee Strasberg Studio and Italia Conti drama schools in London), and has directed over thirty Shakespearean productions.  Let him inspire your understanding of the greatest dramatist of the English speaking world.

How much:  each five week course will cost $200. Places will be limited, so book quickly.
How to book: contact Stephen Lee on mrstephenlee@optusnet.com.au or ring 0403 889 352

WAM ANNOUNCES
RAMMPAAGE READY TO ROCK 2009!

RAMMPAAGE grants are available now for young people looking to put on an all ages contemporary music event anywhere in WA.  Presented by WAM, RAMMPAAGE, The Regional and Metropolitan Music Program for All Ages, is the only funding program dedicated to young people establishing all ages contemporary music gigs in WA.

"RAMMPAAGE continues to be the catalyst for all ages gigs right across the state. The program gives young people the opportunity not only to attend gigs, but also to develop skills in event coordination. It also allows bands to broaden their audience by playing more all ages events" explained RAMMPAAGE Program Coordinator Sarah-Jane Hansen.

Since January 2006, RAMMPAAGE has supported 121 smoke, drug and alcohol free events from Derby to Denmark, Kalbarri to Kalgoorlie and distributed over $360 000 in grants. RAMMPAAGE continues its significant support of the WA all ages music scene throughout 2009 thanks to the ongoing support of the Department of Culture and the Arts, and a partnership with Healthway and Drug Aware.

In addition to grants, RAMMPAAGE also provides skills development opportunities, information sessions and event management workshops throughout the year. RAMMPAAGE has also produced a comprehensive music events management handbook that is available from the WAM office.

Event grants of $1000 or $3000 are available now. Applications close on the last Friday of each month. See www.wam.asn.au for application details. Please discuss your project with RAMMPAAGE before submitting your application. Contact Program Coordinator Sarah-Jane Hansen at the WAM office on (08) 9227 7962 or email Sarah-Jane@wam.asn.au
