Actors Required for Short Film in Melbourne

The School of Applied Communication at RMIT University will be producing a 10 - 12 minute short film about the inscrutability of human interaction in all its humour, shyness and deceit. The film is being produced by students in their graduate year, with the assistance of faculty staff. Auditions are to be held at RMIT University Swanston Street Campus on Saturday the 18th and Sunday the 19th of April. Dates of shoot: 9 &10th May weather permitting. There are five roles available: Stuart / 20 – 35 years old / Male Stuart has always been blessed with intelligence. It’s a blessing that he exploits and flaunts, but not one he’s ever really taken the time to cultivate and extend; rather, he uses its sharpness to cut through conversation and his enemies. He’s more or less a prick, a braggart and, below all that deceit and pretence, dull. Stuart is having a casual affair with Angelo. Josephine / 40 – 80 years old / Female Josephine was raised in a devoutly Catholic family in a rural Christian town. She was permitted to attend school until her absorption could be pressed into other matters of a ‘womanly’ nature. She has a stubborn sense of morality. She is wary and jaded, a Christian who’s witnessed the decline of her faith and weathered the indiscretions of generations. Josephine is going blind. She is the mother to Marilyn and Father Pascual. Angelo / 25 – 40 years old / Male Angelo is a reasonable person. He warms himself with a dull, abstract longing to be a good person, a loving husband and loyal friend. Despite his best intentions, he’s impulsive and sloppy. Angelo is bi-sexual, though he refuses the term preferring instead to see his relationships with men as a sanctioned form of promiscuity. Angelo is engaged to Marilyn, and keeping a bit on the side with Stuart. Marilyn / 25 – 40 years old / Female Marilyn is engaged to Angelo and is unaware of Angelo’s affair with Stuart. She is the daughter of Josephine. She is tormented by a biting anxiousness, fragile, and compulsive. Her timidity has seen her bear the brunt of the indecency of others: in her youth she was swept aside and forgotten; only on occasion her friendship was sought for its obedience and agreement. Father Pascual / 30 – 45 years old / Male Father Pascual is irritable and impatient, hesitant and easily riled. He’s losing the faith. Brother to Marilyn and son of Josephine.
