Adjudicator's Feedback
Tue, 7 Apr 2009, 02:00 pmDear Walter Feedback,
Thank you for your thoughts, you might want to pass them on to Jackie Brett at MPAC for her to take into consideration for next time (touch wood there is a next time).
I will give you the two main reasons why we (as adjudicators) felt we would not give feedback.
1. Unlike Bunbury or Dramafest there were three adjudicators not one. Which means the feedback sessions would probably be three times as long as we would all need to give our own comments. And some of our comments would contradict each other, as was evident in our discussions afterwards.
2. Unlike Bunury or Dramafest, the festival was NOT adjudicated by one "professional" but by three "peers". I can't speak for Jill, but I know I can speak for Colin in that we felt it an honour to be asked to judge the festival, but we would have felt very uncomfortable giving feedback from "on high" when we are on the same level as the entrants.
Personally I think the "Panel of Peers" that Jackie picked worked well, and that if it continues it will give the MPAC festival an interesting point of difference over the other two.
To use an Oscar analogy: if Dramafest is the Oscars and Bunbury is the SAGs then Mandurah could be either the Golden Globes or the BAFTAs...
Another thing to bear in mind, this was the INAUGURAL one, I am sure Jackie would appreciate ANY feedback as to how to improve it for next time.
