I wasn't really sure on which of the Bulletin Boards to post this, but as this one appears to be the most widely read, here goes!

A plea to Club Secretaries

In spite of constantly re-iterating the deadlines for clubs to enter plays for the Finley Awards, we are still receiving entries at the 11th hour (or Later) or urgent messages saying that "An entry will be on it's way soon"

Please could all clubs try to make the decision on entering (or not) a little earlier.

Also please note that the ITA office is NOT manned every day, usually about twice a week, so if entries arrive at the last minute into the office, it may well be several days before they are found! Last minute entries put a strain on the Adjudicators, especially when -as is usual- there are half-a -dozen productions all opening around the same time. At least one of this years Adjudicators juggles shift work so it can be a problem!

As Secretary of the ITA my email  address is widely available as is my phone number. A quick email to give me the basic details of a production will assist. Once I have these then I can inform all Adjudicators in good time.

Two clubs. so far, this year have entered their whole years shows-thus attracting a10% discount.  It's certainly one way of ensuring that you don't miss out as the ITA has "toughened-up" this year and will not be chasing up possible entries.

You have been warned !!

Forms

I have had a look around the website and not been able to find the entry forms, can they be downloaded from this site?
Walter PlingeFri, 27 Mar 2009, 01:04 am

A big 10-4 Jess

I concur with young Jess. I'll admit when I look for something it's usually staring me in the face (one of the downfalls of being a bloke). I couldn't find however, the form for entering a play for adjudication this year, on this site. Before you slit my throat Norma, I do know that the ITA mails these forms to member companies at the start of the year. I do know that the theatre company I am affiliated with are notorious for leaving things to the last minute and cannot apologise enough for that. I do know the ITA do a tops as job organising the adjudication process, but it would be fantastic to be able to access these forms quickly from the ITA website. Again, if Ive missed them and they are on here, I apologise, but we find ourselves in a position where the forms that have been posted are MIA and we need them ASAP. Would you be able to send me the entry form at alex_jones9@hotmail.com You are an absolute diamond and anyone who says different will have me upside their head. Cheers, Alex.

A big 10-4 Jess

I am at a loss to understand why Alex's posting was moderated down, I saw nothing offensive, libelous or untrue in it.

Trigger happy Norma,

Trigger happy Norma, Trigger happy... or a large ego.

Not at all

On either count. I saw Norma's post and used my voting priv to vote them back up. Not trigger happy but triggering an event, and you obviously could not know Norma, being based in QLD.

Very simple ......

That's an easily explained situation Jeff....

Norma's  reputation surpasses mere State boundaries.....

And I concur wholeheartedly with her original posting - PLEASE secretaries, get your Adjudication requests in as soon as possible. As an "ex" I am painfully aware of just how difficult it can be trying to fit in last minute entries.

Thanks to Dannyskye the requested form can now be found here....

Is it possible all the

Is it possible all the other entry forms, such as for DramaFest, can be added now? Along with rules and regulations, too, if anyone wants to view them? This seems in ideal place to have a central repository of such things.
NormaSat, 28 Mar 2009, 04:54 pm

Is it possible all the.....

There is a wide range of "ITA forms available  by going to COMPANIES- WA - ITA.

however we really DO prefer hard copies of entry forms for Finleys and DramaFest (By the way the rules for both are actually on-line)

The reasons for this are. that

1. Not all companies have computer literate people on their committees. This is not meant to be offensive, merely stating a fact.

2. We made a decision originally not to have entry forms on-line as in the past the forms have been "sent to someone" and never seen again, presumably they are either still out in cyber-space or languishing in someone's in-box, forlorn and unloved.

3. If we could be ABSOLUTELY certain that everyone would send the forms to the correct place/person then we might be a little less rigid. The ITA is not "on-line" in itself, that is the office isn't, we all use our own systems, I do most of my work from home as I am more familiar with my own set-up and can do things at odd times (like midnight!!)

However my details- as Secretary: 0402.249.249 email davisrn@people.net.au for those who don't already know them!!

The suggestion wasn't to

The suggestion wasn't to submit them electronically - more to have them available to download and print out at their convenience, posting in as normal. Suggestion is to just make the forms more freely available and more easy to find, in one central location. So put 'em all on here, tell people to print 'em out and and post 'em in - otherwise, no go.
NormaSun, 29 Mar 2009, 10:35 am

The suggestion wasn' to...

Your point, Peter Perfect is valid. Once again I emphasize that we will be discussing changes at our next committee meeting.

However, as I said above IF we coud be certain that everyone -or even 95% would do what is requested, thus ensuring 'a smooth ride' we would not have any hesitation..... BUT......

I will post the results of the committee decisions here.

You're forgetting basic

You're forgetting basic human nature. People are both stupid and/or lazy, so you're never going to get that 95% dream. But by putting all the forms on here, that might slightly increase the the percentage rate, even if it doesn't match the ideal perfection.
NormaSun, 29 Mar 2009, 11:28 am

you're forgetting basic

No I'm not!! That's why I'm unconvinced that being able to access forms on line will change anything!!

But... we'll see. The Finley entry form is on-line, (although not yet ,authorised by the committee!)

Being of a somewhat cynical nature, I can already 'hear' the comments;

I can't find it

Where do I send it

Yes I down-loaded the form but haven't done anything with it

Haven't decided whether or not to enter

I'm waiting for the Committee to tell me if I can enter it

I've heard all of the above- and more.

Walter PlingeSun, 29 Mar 2009, 12:02 pm

* People will always ask

* People will always ask where to find things on websites; that is their nature - whether a State Government organisation or a recruitment firm * Hopefully details of where to send it are at the bottom of the form itself * People can make the same comment if the form has been posted to them or downloaded. * No one can decide for them. Whether it's on the website or not is irrelevant. * Unfortunately, committees, no matter what field you're in, do tend to make life a hindrance when deadlines need to be met. But, again, whether or not it's downloaded from the website or posted to them is irrelevant to your point here. Will having the form online change anything? Maybe, maybe not - but why not at least *try* to see if it makes a difference? You can always go back to the way it was and say "I told you so" with triumphant glee later, if it doesn't work.
NormaSun, 29 Mar 2009, 12:14 pm

People will always ask...

You're dead right about committees!!

And we will take the comments on this subject on board- should be a lively meeting

Well Im ready to strangle

Well Im ready to strangle the committee of one club at the moment
NormaSun, 29 Mar 2009, 06:23 pm

Can I add another couple????

Entries to the Finley Awards

A post-script to my earlier posting entitled- "a plea to club Secretaries"

The 'three week "rule  means 3 weeks from opening night, not closing night!

I have been taken to task on this matter, I hope it is now crystal-clear!
