Yet another dodgy agency

While answering a question at Yahoo, I came across this: http://www.simplyhired.com.au/job-id/i3m3ea2iwj/actors-tv-jobs/ It's an ad for MAMM, otherwise known as "models actors musicians management". It's quite clear that this is yet another case of a dodgy agent. No legit agent needs to advertise, and it seems they do. People who post wanted ads on classifieds sites, like Seek, etc. are not legit because it means they will accept anyone. If they accept anyone, then they are not looking for true talent, and will be ignored by any casting agent/director because of that scamminess. Anyone who advertises "no experience necessary" is also scammy, because you will not be able to earn any money in the Australian entertainment industry due to lack of experience and/or training. And agents earn their money by getting you jobs... so yeah, find someone else. These guys are dodgy. My question is: why does MEAA do nothing about this stuff? Why does MEAA not run a creditation process like in the US? Why do they list agencies, but make no judgment calls on them, and leaves it up to the 'buyer' to do background checks? What is the point of having a union if these agencies continue to run their businesses with no apparent interference?
