Women’s Interests Minister Robyn McSweeney will open International Women’s Day events on Friday 6 March. The theme this year is Sharing the Caring for the Future. FRIDAY 6 MARCH – IWD PUBLIC SYMPOSIUM Keynote speakers Lois Gatley, Chair, Carers Advisory Committee, Dr Tamara Mackean, Senior Research Fellow, UWA, and Gordon Trewern, CEO of Nulsen Haven, will provide dynamic discussion on this year’s theme of Sharing the Caring for the Future. The symposium organised by the Department for Communities, is a free event on Friday March 6 from 9am to1pm at Central TAFE, 140 Royal Street, East Perth. SUNDAY 8 MARCH - IWD INDIGENOUS CELEBRATION Celebrations on Sunday March 8 feature Indigenous women, and include performances from Kwarbah Djookian Dance Group, Thalia Skopellos and Moana Dreaming. Held at Central TAFE, East Perth, the event will be hosted by Narelda Jacobs, of Channel Ten and start at 10.30am. This is your LAST CHANCE to confirm your attendance, for the Symposium. To register for the Indigenous Celebration email Denese Griffin at Denese.Griffin@communities.wa.gov.au Other events on Sunday, feature a free public expo, open between 10am and 3pm, which will include events and workshops from various community organisations. The expo will celebrate the contribution women make as carers in all capacities, maximising community participation and embracing diversity within WA.
