We are currently looking for a female actor to star as The Old Woman in the locally funded short film The Long Road Home. The role promises to be a challenging yet enjoyable experience, due to the ambiguity and mystery surrounding the character. Being shot from the 27th of December to the 2nd of January in Karragullen (an hour away from the CBD), this locally funded film is a great opportunity for anyone who wants to further their exposure in the national and international film festival circuit. We are offering a nonnegotiable rate of $500 in payment. The Long Road Home tells the story of William, a young man, lost in the forest and fated to die until he stumbles upon an isolated house which is occupied by a kind old lady. In classic fairytale style, the audience is torn, wondering if the old lady has saved him as an act of kindness, or whether something sinister is lurking behind her every action. Old Woman – She is a woman of the earth and has worked the land for most of her life – choosing isolation and nature over the company of society. She carries herself with a quiet dignity and while representing the warm and inviting grandmother figure, should have a hardness to her that would keep you slightly off-guard. Auditions will be held on Saturday the 11th of October. Please contact Christina Yiannakis on 0403558092 to organise an audition time.
