Help wanted!
Fri, 26 Sept 2008, 09:50 amPuppetry internship
I’m in need of some help to make some muppets.
Bit of background: muppets are one of the top two puppets that people want to learn about how to make, and I’m trying to develop patterns to sell online. Unfortunately, they’re very time-consuming to make, not to mention turn into patterns… and I need some help.
Basically, the intern will build a muppet, and take photos of each step as they do it. They will help me develop a pattern and instructions based on some designs I’ve got ready to go. No experience is necessary; most of the instructions are already written, I just need help making the puppet to use as example photos for the pattern. … Which means you’d pretty much be following a step-by-step guide of how to do it.
The person selected will get the chance to learn how to make them, all materials will be paid for by me, and they will get to keep a copy of the pattern developed from the build, as well as the muppet/s themselves. (A professionally-made muppet can cost up to several thousands of dollars to make)
It is hoped that this stuff can be done over the Christmas holidays, but I would like to start as soon as possible. The person will be expected to keep to a deadline, as this is one of my most important products to start selling.
There are other things I have planned, and if we get along and work together well, I’m happy to extend the internship further.
Please note: I do all my puppet building at home, and can’t afford to hire a workshop space. It may be that some or all of the time may be spent at my house, where I have a large clear space to work in without being disturbed.
Applications open til 10th October. This is a particularly good opportunity for school or uni students interested in the subject. I’m looking for enthusiasm more than experience. Apply with a resume and cover letter please.
