CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS
Norman
Scruffy, odd, alternative, humourous, clumsy and old-fashioned. In essence, Norman’s character is born from the era of slapstick comedy and commedia dell’arte with the likes of Charlie Chaplin (1889-1977). Norman would be considered as a bit of an outcast with his quirky personality, his clumsiness and style of dress however, maintains dignity with his heart in the right place.
Delilah
Elegant, feminine, vain, self-centered, moody, over-the-top, old-fashioned, drama queen. Delilah sits at the highest end of the girly scale. She is the eldest sister of Doris and Daisy. Brought up in a family of all females, Delilah is very dreamy yet stubborn. She seeks the spot light and acts out her life as she sees it in her dreams.
Doris
Middle sister to Delilah and Daisy. Doris is a very genuine and down to earth girl. She shows warmth in her expressions and actions and seems to be the most mature of the three sisters. Her character has balance and grace, which comes from the need for stabilisation within a family of bold characters.
Daisy
The youngest sister to Delilah and Doris. Daisy has a lot of energy and staticness about her character. She is excited easily and always enthused. Nothing bothers Daisy, not even when she is consistently left out from activities. Daisy looks up to and idolises her sisters.
Waiter 1
The waiter serves Norman and Delilah’s table in the restaurant. The waiter is well groomed and professional, taking care when serving food and/or drink in a posh manner. The waiter has a very obedient and/or strict nature that resembles the nature of the Queen’s guards at Buckingham Palace.
Waiter 2
This is the role of the waiter who Norman blows a kiss to after applying Delilah’s lipstick. The waiter's character is similar to Waiter 1 however expresses confusion and is slightly startled by Norman’s gesture.
Policeman
Rather than displaying an exterior of responsibility, obedience, regulation and control like most figures of authority, this policeman acts more like a cranky nanny. His movements are sharp and straight yet totally over the top, waving his finger around like it’s a magician’s wand.
