Vale - David Crewes

I am very sad to hear of David's passing. He was a great mentor and friend to me during my early years at Playlovers, as was Elizabeth, and he will be sadly missed by a great many people. I'd like to think he will spend his time, across the great divide, entertaining with his acting and directing uproarious productions of coarse acting classics such as "Moby Dick" - still the single funniest night I have ever experienced in a theatre! My love to Jason, Marie, Amanda, Martin and the rest of the Crewes clan. Jason

It's hard to find the right words to say when the theatre community loses one of its true gentleman. We feel very honoured to have known David. His knowledge and experience of all things theatre made him a valued member and friend. Thank you David for what you have given us and shared with us. One of my fondest memories of David was his rendition of "Modern Major General" from The Pirates of Penzance at Playlovers. The role of the Major General was made for him! Working with David as a cast and committee member was also a joy. Our love and thoughts go to Martin, Amanda, Jason, Marie and the Crewes family. Alex and Sue McLennan

David Crewes was one of those people who reminded you of the great potential of human beings to be caring, kind, talented, committed. In fact words seem inadequate for summing up his nature. I learnt a lot from David whilst having a really good time as well. My most heartfelt condolences to the family
