URGENT - Save La Mama!!!!

Please, if you're a Melbourne theatre person, read the below: Dear Friends of La Mama, I’m contacting you to see if you are in a position to help save La Mama – NOW ! As you may know, La Mama’s landlady of 40 years - Rose del Monaco – died in November last year. Her estate has offered us first option to purchase La Mama. Whilst thrilled at this offer, the terms make it SUPER URGENT that we call for help from those who may be able and prepared to contribute financially to the La Mama Trust fund - at very short notice! We need funds for the deposit on the sale URGENTLY. We are suggesting $1,000 though already some have willingly contributed more. Please consider this request at your earliest convenience as we have a deadline to raise the deposit by May 27. Our Trust Fund a/c can cover less than half of the total amount needed. Once we have the deposit in place, we anticipate a number of large stakeholders coming to the party, including federal, state and municipal arts funding bodies and philanthropic bodies. We are very confident that once the deposit has been paid, this exciting opportunity to keep La Mama in Carlton will be achieved. But it is most likely to be a DO or DIE opportunity !
