A few months ago, the ITA website turned 10 - that's ten years of looking after us theatre people, ten years of reviews, ten years of a community that has grown and developed. Several of the regular members and I got together and pitched in to get Grant Malcolm, the site admin, a little birthday present, as a way of saying thank you for his continued dedication and hard work making this website what it is. Although the last few months have seen some turbulence, we all appreciate and acknowledge the time, money and hours that have been/are put in towards making this site accessible to everyone. On behalf of Norma, Logos, Taurean, Labrug and myself, we all want to say a big thank you. Grant, I hope the pressie can buy you something to comfort you in those long hours! I invite other members of the community to leave a comment of thanks and show Grant how much we appreciate his voluntary work.

SUPERMAN

Running any simple computer is a nightmare, but to design, organise and maintain a busy program and site, must be horrendous. It is one of these tasks where if everything is going well no one comments, but one glitch and the storm descends. If I had known, I would have chipped in with a donation to your presentation. However, I missed it and being Scottish by birth, tough luck Grant, too late - but I will definitely give something on your twentieth celebration. Remember for every letter that you get, there are another 10 most grateful users who are too lazy to write. VERY many thanks again Grant.

Ten years plus change (...or rather, sans the change)

Hi Grant Congrats on passing a milestone with this website which has become something of a cultural institution. However, I know you won't be offended if I gleefully point out a rather ironic glitch. I received an email today , 'This is an automatic reminder from the site theatre australia. You have 3 unread private messages." I dutifully logged on, to find that all three messages were composed last year (..!), one of which was Na's idea about passing the hat around for you. I know I don't find myself with the time to browse here much (when once it seemed I slept here), but I have logged on here at least two or three times this year, and sadly wasn't made aware there were any such messages. No idea why the autobot decided to remind me now, but it effectively prevented me from contributing or at least congratulating. So, thanks for this magnificent website...which still has it's quibbles and flaws like all who use her! Good on ya. Cheers Craig ~<8>-/=====\-----

Not far wrong

The automatic notifications for when you have messages here haven't been working since the site changed over to the new platform (what was that - a couple of years ago now?). The worked intermittently for me, and then disappeared completely. I'm sure it's on Grant's very big to do list. (I'm not complaining: to see this site working at full speed again, it's like coming back to see an old good friend. Good work Grant!) Huge Kudos From Moi Too

I want to say a HUGE thank you to Grant too... From the moment I met you and your wife, talking about Theatre Australia and how I can learn, help and so forth with the site - you've always been there. Thank you. You are doing a fabulous job - all for the love of it too !! It thrills me that Na, Taurean, Labrug and others got together and organised a pressie for you... that makes me smile that there are others out there that so appreciate and aware of all that you do. I had no idea Theatre Australia turned 10... so consider yourself warned... I'm finding you a pressie too. Always backing you Grant!! and thank you again! Melz Melz

TOP TEN

Like all ventures and productions, Theatre Oz has (and does) require a huge amount of hard work and dedication. There can be no doubt in anyones mind that the title of "Superman" (from Gordon the Optom) settles about Grant's shoulders like the legendary Man-of-Steel's  own cape.

Here in Perth we know that this site is THE place to search for anything to do with theatre, but if you take a look at the "HIT WISE" logos on the left of your screen you will see that the rest of the world  agrees with us...... 6 TOP TEN  Awards ...(and for the knockers among you, please notice that the last one was awarded for January to March this year .... you know .... when the site was effectively down and running at about 1/4 strength???)

Theatre Oz is linked to by publishing houses, theatre companies and even talent agencies across the globe. Grant and his "people" have well and truly put our little city (the most remote capital city on the planet) on the entertainment industry map.

Thankyou for everything you have done for this site and for the people of Perth Grant.

(And you know what? ... Even with all this going on, Grant also finds time to act, Direct and lead a family life...... Seems there is a certain hitherto undiscovered realm of insanity that relates directly to "Theatre".....)

Thanks again mate, you ARE a "Superman".

Credit where it is due...

My sincere thanks to Na, Norma, Logos, Taurean, Labrug for their kind gift. I'll be sure to spend the voucher on something fun!

:-)

Some of you will be aware that I'm not shy of hogging the limelight when treading the boards, but as far as this site is concerned I think it's important that credit goes where it is due.

It's the contributions, compassion and commitment demonstrated by people like those above plus people like crgwllms, Gordon the Optom, Melz, Don Allen, Stinger, Kimberley, Dr Buttery, Kerri, Deano and the many others listed in the hall of fame and elsewhere on the site that keeps this community alive... particularly over the last few years while I've focused on family and career at the expense of my own desire to participate.

It's also important to note that this has never been a one man show back stage either! My particular thanks to Mark and Adrian for saving our collective bacon with the new server arrangements.

Those of you that have followed my mutterings over the years will know that I still have ideas about how this site might grow to better serve the performing arts community. It seems appropriate to kick this effort off in the tenth year of operation. So do stay tuned.

Regards
Grant

quality v quantity

Another option would be considering quality not quantity Mostly self opinionated unsubstantiated or even malicious posts which seem to be the big attraction here don't do much. And I get the suspicious feeling since you’re happy to go along with much of the BS in name of your web site. Weather you're more about promoting it then really keeping the community alive.
