The Green Room has been nominated for
Best Arts Program in the 2008 Antenna Awards

The national Antenna Awards will be held at the BMW Edge Federation Square on
Thursday 24th April 2008 and broadcast nationally on community television on Sunday 27th April at 7.30pm.

The Antennas recognizes the passionate contribution of the community television sector from across Australia.  It celebrates the role community television has to promote diversity and harmony.

The awards bring together the many varied communities that make up community television in Australia and celebrate the community’s cultural interests, concerns and perspectives.

Producer Louis Shepherd says, “It is outstanding that a locally produced television program has obtained national recognition in such a short time.”

“This program is put to air by a dedicated group of talented individuals who volunteer their time each and every week.  We have proved that it is possible to create a quality show on the smell of an oily rag.  We don’t have sponsorship, have no operating budget and absorb all production costs personally.”

The Green Room is a WA Community Theatre television series, promoting and reviewing all that is connected with community theatre in Perth. The Green Room features theatre clubs, their performances, members and facilities.  Each episode draws attention to a specific theatre club, showcases the range of talent on offer by individuals connected with community theatre, reviews productions, promotes up and coming performances and events, and discusses issues connected with productions. The Green Room started production in April 2007 and has quickly been recognised as an outstanding arts program. Produced independently by Louis Shepherd, The Green Room airs on Access31 weekly on Tuesday evenings in prime time 7.30pm and is repeated Saturday mornings at 10am.

Co-hosts Louis Shepherd and Melanie DeCull volunteer their time and expertise in gathering content for the show, seeking out potential stories on the strong and diverse range of community theatre clubs, non profit and amateur associations along with interviewing well known experienced theatre individuals that grace this state.

Voting is now open for The Viewer’s Choice Antenna.
It is the opportunity for Community Television’s loyal audiences to decide on their favourite show.

Voting is open until March 31.
