The City of Fremantle is seeking volunteers this Anzac Day to help with its fifth annual Anzac Commemorative Exhibition in the Fremantle Town Hall. Showcasing unique military items from public and private collections, various types of memorabilia will be on show, all highlighting different historical periods. People are needed to help set up and guide people around the free exhibition between 8am and 3pm, Friday, April 25. City of Fremantle Corporate Events Team Leader Marie La Frenais said volunteering on Anzac Day was an opportunity to give back and pay respect to the servicemen and women who gave their lives fighting for Australia. “Helping out with this annual exhibition is an ideal way to really get involved in Anzac Day,” she said. “Even if it’s just for a few hours, I know the many veterans and the wider community would be appreciative of any time given by people willing to help out on such an important day.” The Anzac Commemorative Exhibition ties in with several other Fremantle Anzac events, including the dawn service at Monument Hill and mid-morning Anzac Day Parade. To register your interest as a volunteer, contact Marie La Frenais on 9432 9830 or e-mail marielf@fremantle.wa.gov.au.
