Is this Art? I don't think so...
Wed, 19 Mar 2008, 08:59 amHi guys,
While this isn't theatre-related, I still think this is important to be seen by as many people as possible. And perhaps, do something about it.
An "artist" from Costa Rica - Guillermo Habacuc Vargas - as an installation piece took a dog from the street and caused it to suffer and starve to death in the name of Art. And unbelievably, he has been selected to represent Costa Rica in "Bienal Centroamericana Honduras 2008 with the same piece.
This is his 'work' HERE
While Arts Hub does not believe in censorship, however perhaps a line must be drawn when it involves taking an unwilling model and using them against their wishes. It may be an old cliché that many artists suffer in various ways for their work, but to cause another living being to suffer for their work is completely inexcusable.
If you feel strongly about this (as we do) there is an online petition you can sign.
