THE City of Fremantle is seeking community members to join its various council advisory committees and taskforces, giving them an opportunity to have their say.

“It’s a chance to provide valuable community input while working with elected members, staff and other community members to achieve council’s goals,” City of Fremantle Corporate Services Director Glen Dougall said.

“These advisory committees ensure comprehensive advice and assistance is provided to council, including relevant expertise and local knowledge to assist in council’s decision-making processes.”

Nominations are being sought for the Arts, Culture & Events Advisory Committee and Public Art Taskforce. Each committee and taskforce requires seven community members and has terms of reference, highlighting relevant qualifications and performance requirements needed.

“Involving community members and key stakeholders in this process is critical in ensuring successful planning for the future, which is why we are broadly advertising for membership nominations, to ensure all views are adequately represented,” Mr Dougall said. “Each nomination will be assessed on the basis of relevant knowledge and experience.”

Interested community members should go to www.freofocus.com.au under CURRENT NEWS to obtain the relevant eligibility criteria in the instruments of appointment.

These documents are also available by calling the City’s Service & Information Centre on 9432 9899. Details on how to make an application are included in the instruments of delegation and should be forwarded to Glen Dougall, Corporate Services Director, City of Fremantle, PO Box 807, Fremantle WA 6959, by 5pm, Friday, March 14.
