I today received a Personal message on the Black Box debate. I refuse to buy into this debate again. Everything that should be said has been. I am assuming that the message is some sort of spam and is related to the two threads that someone has attempted to start over the last few days. I repeat what I have said before. Do not sign with an agent who wants up front fees. I will say no more.

Which they have done before. Casting Agencies usually do not advertise in this way. Not the good ones at least. They have enough "talent" to cater for without asking for a world of pain inviting thousands more. It also seriously damages your chances if you have to complete with all the other applicants as well.

Think about it - an agent who was welcoming just about everybody and/or was having to actively search for talent, what does that say about the agent? Most agencies to not actively seek out clients. They are a service you hire to help find perfromance gigs but rarely need to seek out new clients due to the nature of the work, as opposed to a recruitment agency who help you find permanent work opportunities and therefore are always looking for more.

If an agent is actively seeking clients, then they are either desperate or sus. Either way, would you join such an agent?
