I agree with both sides of the argument - the reason why I said it seemed sus is that there is so little information, and the only way to gain it is by calling up. If it's such a great opportunity, then you, as the organiser, would do your best to offer as much information about it as possible. You would additionally include at least some basic details about the people behind it; more than a paragraph. Additionally, if you post it on sites, you would expect more information about how the tapes are judged, who is viewing them, and what the background is of the judges. I would not send any applications without first finding this out. (As others have pointed out, yes, this should be done on each applicant's own efforts anyway. But it is up to the organisers to also be as transparent as possible) As someone who has spent five years hunting down legit auditions and arts jobs, I have developed a sort of instinctive criteria for what I judge to be job ads that don't sound dodgy. (I am not saying the above is or isn't legit, just that this one didn't pass my personal test) Frankly, more than anything, it's bad publicity. Any exciting new opportunity for emerging artists would be quickly picked up by local press: but without more details, it's hard to get excited or even interested in the program. It may very well be that they lose marketing opportunities because of the lack of information. After all, we're already debating the merits/legitimacy of the opportunity.
