$73 million for "the Arts" in WA
Thu, 13 Dec 2007, 12:59 pmAn announcement from WA's Premier this morning - $73 million for "The Arts" in WA.
Ten for the Art Gallery of WA, and not before time, didn't see any mention of "Theatre"
Wouldn't it be luverly if just a tiny tiny fragment of it came the way of community theatre????????
Well, it IS Christmas Time so I can make a wish to Santa so I have.
While it's a great new
Thu, 13 Dec 2007, 01:40 pmWhile it's a great new investment on arts in WA, for me it sounds too much like 'same old, same old'. Governments only seem to be spending on big companies and big venues these days.
I'm not denigrating - I think it's wonderful that WA is seeing more arts funding, no matter what's done with it. But it would be nice for one of the states to do something really daring for once - fund some small companies. Fund a new festival. Move away from funding the same bunch of things every time (yes, I know... buildings and venues need to be upgraded and maintained... It'd just be nice to see other things done too)
(I'm really not trying to complain... I'm trying to be balanced, but it's not coming off that way...)
"RSPCA"... mmm, yes, the arts does tend to go to the dogs! :P
Some people are odd.
