Polling for candidates who support the Arts
Sun, 14 Oct 2007, 10:22 pmThis coming Saturday, October 20, many of us will be asked to vote in our local government elections. In Kalgoorlie-Boulder, WA, we have put questions to our Mayoral and Councillor candidates regarding their stances on THE ARTS. We've read and heard numerous comments on sport, recreation, recycling, infrastructure, business and so forth. But they have been very remiss in mentioning the relevance of Arts, Culture and Entertainment/Events. So, we have put the question to them! If you go to our website www.wowkal.com and look at the home page and the online poll, you will see the questions we have asked. We put this to you because so many of you are in the same boat where you live. Have you asked your prospective councillors to declare their stance when it comes to The Arts? And what about the upcoming Federal election? Now that we have a confirmed date, could we and should we starting raising this topic with those candidates as well? We've been thrilled so far with the momentum that this campaign has gathered in the Goldfields - maybe if more of us have a "voice", we may see some results. What do you all think? Care to join us on the barricades? We await the responses with great interest, and encourage you all to consider taking a similar approach, wherever you live, work and play. Cheers Lise :)
Well Done
Wed, 17 Oct 2007, 09:17 pmWell Done Lise & Kev on getting the ball rolling !!!
I was actually contemplating asking my local polly's about what they do or will do for the arts, and share my views for the future of my local area and the arts.
Now that I have read what you have started, I feel confident that I can do similar.
Good reading !!
Cheers
