Appropriate monologue????
Wed, 12 Sept 2007, 03:00 pmHi guys!!! Hope the industry is treating you all well. Just needing some more advice (and thank you again... it really helps!!!)... I have an up coming audition for "Short and Sweet" the ten minute play festival on at the Arts Centre, Melbourne. We have been asked to prepare a 1-2 minute monologue for the audition and I don't know what to do!? I love "Gallop apace..." from Romeo and Juliet but do you think Shakespeare is appropriate??? They did say it could be either contemporary or classic. I would prefer to do a non- Shakespeare piece... I was thinking Cath from "Don's Party" but my age being 20... soon to be 21, it's not age appropriate. Could anyone please suggest some age appropriate 1-2 minute monologue for a female... think of YOUR favourites. Thanks again guys... Keep up the performing.
I don't have any advice on
Wed, 12 Sept 2007, 09:12 pmI don't have any advice on what kind of monologue you should use, but I do think you should go with contemporary. Most of the plays accepted for S&S seem to be contemporary, and I think that's what the directors and playwrights will end up looking for in their actors.
Take with a pinch of salt though, since I'm no actor and haven't participated in S&S; just heard things from friends.
