I was wondering if anyone out there knows much about hiring theatre companies in Perth and what ones they would recommend. I know there are some good out there, but I am looking for an economically viable theatre. I don't mind hiring a shack if it gets bums on seats. I know all the additional costs like public liability insurance knocks up the bill, so I am quite prepared for going out into the suburbs in order to find something that meets my financial needs. Any suggestions would be most welcome. Thanks.

Publicity is what makes a show, even average shows do well out of good publicity and good shows do poorly with poor publicity. Look into profit sharing with a venue to reduce your risk. You will need a good marketing plan to convince them to take the risk. Look into the university theatres, UWA have the Dolphin and Murdoch have the Nexus. The Bakery does alright. The City Farm puts on shows. The Fly By Night Musicians Club in Freemantle has plays put on there. For a small intimate venue there is the Cavern at the Quarry Amphitheatre in Floreat Park. You can look into youth funding from the state government. Hope that helps a bit. Don
