Girl Beats Boy Productions of Curtin University is in search of a female actor between 18 and 25 and a male actor between 20 and 25 to play major roles in their short film ‘Why The Long Face’. The male role Rhyno is loud and over confident. He drags his girlfriend to a party to make his mother happy and get free food and beer. They arrive only to find they are the only guests and must spend an awkward evening with Nathan (the birthday boy) and his over enthusiastic mother. While he is slightly obnoxious and quite open about his indifference towards Nathan, his dry sense of humor and energy makes Rhyno likeable. The female role is his girlfriend Kirra who is a timid but bright young woman. She seems unhappy in her relationship with Rhyno, but doesn’t feel the confidence to do anything about it until a number of events unfold at the party that make her realize he is not the right person for her. Unlike Rhyno, she is very sensitive to the feelings of others and becomes pivotal in Nathan’s realisation that he doesn’t always have to be lonely. We require people with dedication who are available in late august for casual rehearsals and early September for filming. Filming is likely to take one day and five nights, scheduled over a two-week period. As students we are flexible to your hours and will make sacrifices for the right actor! We will be auditioning from Monday August 6th in the evening at Curtin. Please contact Christina on 0403558092 or at kalos_kolos@hotmail.com to find out more details and organise an audition time.
