Roll up… roll up… Fremantle Festival positions available
Fri, 8 June 2007, 10:13 amTHE word is out – various Fremantle Festival positions need to be filled by June 26 and the City of Fremantle wants to hear from you.
Held each November, the Fremantle Festival is currently looking for:
· A parade coordinator to maximise community participation in the Lotterywest Street Parade while helping to coordinate artistic input into the celebration.
· Community artists with the skills and expertise to work with and support community groups making their entry for the parade. The parade coordinator will facilitate this process to develop a strong design concept.
· A carnival artistic director to develop a carnival atmosphere on the final day of the festival, making the streets of Fremantle come alive (this includes the Bhangra Street Dance Party).
· A program editor to put together the annual Fremantle Festival program, detailing what’s happening where during the 10-day event.
· The hunt is also still on for a visual artist to design the Fremantle Festival image for 2007.
All applications should include a letter describing their experience in relation to the position and a CV including three referees – send to Doreen Johnson, City of Fremantle, PO Box 807, Fremantle WA 6959 or e-mail doreen@fremantle.wa.gov.au

“With more than 80 events in the program, the Fremantle Festival is truly a celebration of our community’s diversity through the arts,” City of Fremantle Cultural Development Coordinator Lou Westbury said.
“The Fremantle Festival delivers arts and culture as far as the eye can see each year with an eclectic mix of music, dance, art, fashion and performance and these positions are a chance for people to get involved right at the heart of the events.
“Carnival Day is a highlight for the tens of thousands who flock to the cappuccino strip each year to enjoy a fun-filled day of action, colour and a host of free activities while the Lotterywest Street Parade always animates the streets of Freo with a dazzling procession of extraordinary floats and colourful costumes.”
