uni courses???
Tue, 27 Mar 2007, 03:45 pmHey guys! I just wrote a highly intellegent and eloquent post but it didn't save! So now I am forced to opt for a shorter version!!!
I'm just wondering if anyone has any suggestions on good university/tafe (or the like), courses for musical theatre or theatre arts. I am looking at applying for next yr, having taken 4 yrs off since school, to run my own performing arts teaching business and do community theatre etc, and would love to study next yr. I obviously know about WAAPA being the best, but I am wondering people's thoughts on other courses (even WAAPA if anyone has first hand experience?). I would love to find a course that included learning performance skills and production management, directing, writing etc. Am I in any luck? Any ideas? Even knowledge about short-term courses would be great- anything to get my skills up!!!

Where abouts in Australia do you want to learn?
Actually, that's almost unnecessary - there are TAFEs around the country that offer a course that covers both performance and production. The name varies from uni to uni, but NMIT and Swinburne (Melbourne) both run this course. You could find out from them where else they have it.
This type of course is probably what would suit you best, as they do writing, production (all areas), directing, performance, etc.
