I am currently casting four roles for an amateur theatrical production called A Few Months, which explores the lifestyle of young adults these days. What is a university lifestyle? Can it honestly just be beer and sex? We'll let the audiencei decide. It's like Big Brother when something actually happens. All characters are aged 18-30. I need: Mike, the leading man who doesn't think he is one Jason, the good-looking best friend Paul, the slow-witted best friend and David, the smart one. Rehearsals start 13th December, so if you are interested, don't waste any time! Please contact me asap to arrange an audition.

I need good male actors too

Although my auditions are only just starting I'm aware it will be difficult to find the few good male actors I need for this play. I chose it partly because, of all the Cooney/Chapman farces, it uses the biggest ratio of Women to men at 6 to 5. Please email me if anyone good wants to audition on pictontheatre@ausgate.com ‘Not Now, Darling’ by Ray Cooney and John Chapman is an hilarious tale set in a London fur salon where the mischievous plans of Gilbert Bodley to use a ₤5000 Mink coat to buy the affections of Janie, an East End mobster's wife and showgirl, all come undone (literally). In the typical British style that we love, the panic, blame, cover ups, flirtations, and shocks increase at a rapid pace bring down the innocent along with the guilty until everyone gets their just desserts. The Directorial team comprises Stephen Gummerson (PTG President) who directed Picton’s successful sell out stage show of BBC's “Blackadder II” in 2006 and skilled actors/Directors Peta Scowcroft and Roshelle Williams. No pre-casting ever. Should email pictontheatre@ausgate.com to get audition pack which answers most questions. Please don't just 'turn up'. Some very big roles. Lots of fast pasted lines with good comic timing needed. No nudity but this funny & panic ridden farce requires 2 females to appear in bra & pants. although auditions are 12th & 16th Dec, email if you miss it afterwards as correct casting is vital & I can still audition people until we start rehearsals in mid Jan 2007. Want to try acting in a live dinner show production? We need 6 females & 5 males who are friendly, committed, fun, would be great actors, and preferably aged 18 or over. Audition in Picton in December for a funny and daring British comedy. No experience necessary but by the time we open in April 2007 everyone on stage has to be outstanding. Picton Theatre Group has been putting on great shows for everyone in Macarthur for 30 years, everyone is a volunteer who is there for the fun of it and we usually produce comedies, musicals, and dramas. To launch their 2007 season they plan a daring British farce with plenty of fun, action, and surprises to leave audiencesi rolling in the aisles with laughter. Emailing is preferred or call Stephen on a weekend or after 6pm on 0422 155 376.

Why are guys so hard to

Why are guys so hard to find? :) lol... no seriously though, I used to know so many male actors and now... It really is annoying.

Put on some plays men want

Put on some plays men want to do... we're here lurking but nothing on offer is grabbing our interest whatsoever

Lurking

Then perhaps you should stop Lurking and give some suggestions as to what shows may grab your interest. As a female director I have to admit that it is hard to select a play that is of interest to both males and females. I am always on the lookout for something new that will bring more males into the theatre. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated :o)

Put on some plays....

How about giving us a list????

I am involved in this play,

I am involved in this play, and we have managed to find some good male actors, we just need someone to play the lead. It's so frustrating because I would think that a play about university life, with it's drinking and debauchery would be quite attractive to a guy, especially when you consider the final scene is basically just two girls making out... Maybe I'm thinking too little of men in general... :) he he he... But if you are lurking out there, let yourself be known! We need you!

Plays that men want.....

OK... so you want "plays for men"...

Did you try out for "The Judas Kiss" at Playlovers last year? That was a winner!!...

Or perhaps "Last of The Red Hot Lovers" would be more your thing..... That was at Northam.....

Too far afield? Here's an idea, do as Norma suggested. Select some manuscripts, approach some of the companies around the metropolitan area and submit them, then sit back and watch just how many guys DON'T show up for the auditions.

For some reason, male actors (of any age group) are a rare commodity in Perth, and those that are willing to get on stage are busy all year round.

As an adjudicator for the Finley Awards, I have seen and will see almost all the shows entered during 2006 and 2007 and I have often seen the same male actors in several different productions, from Pinjarra to Roleystone and all points in between.

A few tend to stay with one company, but the majority "shop hop" from club to club.

Why? Because they know that they can almost be guaranteed a part, simply because they showed up. Sad, but true. I do not mean that Directors accept any odd-bod that comes along, but having sat through the audition process with my Director partner on several occasions, it often comes down to choosing the guys that are there at the time, rather than doing the "ring around" and hoping that Fred Bloggs isn't already cast elsewhere.

If you want to act... get out amongst it and strut your stuff....You might just pick up a lead role!!!
