This is your opportunity to learn about the Australian theatre industry, and refine your marketing skills while helping a new small business. Background: The Prompt Copy is a growing not-for-profit theatre publication. Our site hosts all our information, which is updated weekly with jobs, auditions, events, news and much more. We are about to launch a new website – an online theatre book store, with all profits going back into the company. Our Marketing and Development Manager needs some time off, and we really need help creating and undertaking a marketing plan for both sites. The publication needs some basic marketing to be undertaken: gaining advertisers and new members; encouraging online participation from current members; surveying and polling new, current and potential members; creating and sending media releases and member’s newsletters… For the store, we need to create a marketing plan designed to gain new customers, encourage returning customers, and tasks similar to the above. This role will be very challenging, but we are keen to hear from both experienced and emerging marketing people. We are extremely flexible in all tasks and demands but you must have the dedication and communication skills necessary to pursue lines of inquiry, research, and marketing tasks. This role will also require some independence. You will be taught how to use the website and its applications, but you will need to have a basic interest in marketing for online businesses. This role has many different tasks and we are willing and happy to have people share the position. Requirements: May require some basic graphic design skills An ability to write succinctly, clearly and with flair An understanding of theatre (we will hire people based on their theatre experience over their writing or marketing skills, so please no applications from those who have no experience in theatre.) Access to the internet and email, as there will be a heavy reliance on internet communications The ability to be proactive in keeping to schedules, communicating with the Editor, and other necessary matters Hours of work: A few hours per week will be required, however as we are to launch our store in the early months of next year, hours may increase accordingly. Times and hours of work are flexible. Opportunities: While we can not offer payment at this time, if the store is successful we can establish a fee. This is your chance to shine with an emerging arts business! You will also receive our eternal gratitude. Applications: Please send a) your CV b) a cover letter explaining why you would like to work with us, and what you would like to achieve in this role and/or a short outline of a marketing plan to store@thepromptcopy.com. For more information about us or our service, please visit www.thepromptcopy.com. And if you would like to ask us something, please do not hesitate to contact us at the above email address. Closing date 1 Feb 2007.
