Last Train to Freo

Producer, Sue Taylor, and writer, Reg Cribb, will be guests at the Film & Television Institute’s Meet the Filmmaker (MTF) on Thursday 12 October, 7pm at the FTI Cinema in Fremantle. Sue Taylor has more than 20 years experience in the industry with a track record in documentary, children's drama, adult drama and feature films. Her projects, which include The Shark Net, Minty and Southern Cross, have been nominated for numerous AFI and Logie awards. Reg Cribb started out life as a musician and an actor. One day he came to his senses and wrote 10 plays in seven years. His plays have been performed both nationally and internationally. He is one of the most awarded and produced playwrights in the country. Last Train To Freo is a feature film adaptation of his stage play The Return and is his first feature. Meet the Filmmaker is usually presented on the first Thursday of every month but in October it will be the second Thursday of the month. Prior to the Question and Answer there will be a 15 minute screening of a Behind The Scenes documentary by Ben Young and Diana Ford. Last Train to Freo, the first of five films to be funded under ScreenWest’s West Coast Visions Initiative, has polarised opinion across the nation. Some critics are saying it’s among the best Australian films of the year while others find it hard to take, something Sue Taylor is keen to discuss. Meet the Filmmaker provides Perth audiences with an intimate opportunity to hear emerging and established industry professionals discuss their craft and answer questions. The MTF events are an excellent forum for local filmmakers to gain inside knowledge of the filmmaking experience and be inspired by those working successfully in the West Australian screen industry. Tickets to Meet the Filmmaker events are $10 for FTI Members & concessions and $12 for non-members. Bookings are limited to an audience of 60 for all events.
