This professional course for Actors and Directors lasts for 8 weeks, every Monday evening, 6.30pm-9.30pm, from 7 August to 25 September. It will be held at the Blue Room Theatre, 53 James St, Northbridge WA. Understanding the relationship between the actor and director and their individual process will help you become a better actor and/or director. Participants will gain hands-on trainingi and experience through a series of exercises and rehearsing of different scenes from plays of different genre. Actors will have the opportunity to learn and implement the different methods of acting, including the techniques of Stanislavski, Hagen and Chekhov incorporating improvisation, stage movement and physical theatre techniques. The methods will be explored through classical and contemporary dialogues and monologues. Directors will explore the techniques of famous directors, including Mike Leigh, Artaud, Elia Kazan and Peter Brook. (While the director is involved in all aspects of production, I believe the main responsibility is to draw the best performances out of the actors. Other aspects of production will be covered, though not in the same detail.) The group will work toward performance pieces and should you be interested in acting and directing, you can be involved in more than one piece to implement what you have learned in both roles. Course cost: $200 for 8 weeks - 3 hours per week. Maximum of 15 people per class so enrol now to secure your place either by phone 0417 971 430 or email at lucyeyre@iinet.net.au
