Examination of Resources for Writing for Performance
Wed, 12 July 2006, 02:31 pmSomething I found in my travels which I thought I might share. I'm reading the large report now...
The Australia Council for the Arts has commissioned a report into the development of writing for performance across Australia.
Script development is a process whereby writer/s are assisted by a dramaturg and/or director and sctors to scrutinise and improve a script intended for theatre production.
A research project was commissioned by the Theatre Board of the Australia Council to examine script development organisations and survey programs in Australia theatre in 2005.
The project aimed to:
* Survey the resources currently available for the development of writing for perforamnce
* Assess the strengths of these services and identify gaps
* Examine best practice models in this area, both local and international, with particular focus on the institutional structures that support them
* Make recommendations on how the Theatre Board's funds can best support the development of scripts for performance over the next five to ten years.
