Over 600 Australians have been honoured for outstanding achievements in the Queen's Biirthday Honours List. Among these are;

  • Bert Newton (Officer of the Order of Australia) for services to the Entertainment industry
    "It's the cameraderie that I like, especially in television and in theatre too," he said.
    "For it to come at this stage of my life - it's a special feeling."
  • Rex Heading (Order of Australia medal) who created popular children's television characters, including Humphrey B Bear, has received the Order of Australia medal.
  • Music promoter Michael Gudinski is also recognised and says he is pleased his faith in Australian artists has been rewarded.
    "It's all a bit humbling, I'm a pretty lucky guy with a pretty groovy job, I guess," he said.
  • Olivia Newton-John has also been honoured for services to the entertainment industry and the community through supporting breast cancer treatment organisations.
  • Author Colleen McCullough has been recognised for her contributions to the arts.
