Productive opinions
Hi Ben
Thanks for taking the time to offer some feedback!

Can you point to some examples of what was easier? I really do want to fix any issues but it's very hard to do so when the feedback is so general.

Working on it! If you've been watching over the last few days, you'll notice that each evening there are a flurry of changes - like the new/old layout for the auditions page, the auditions and what's on today on the home page.

hehehe
You think you're going to be bombarded? What do you think it's been like changing this site?
:-)

New site
I am also finding it very hard to navigate this new site, particularly the auditions page. It is quite frustrating as I consider myself to be fairly experienced in online navigation, etc (as a lecturer)!!!! I am trying to be 'patient' and not resist a change just because it is a change. I only really look at the main pages and auditions and don't ever post comments other than this time so please can you simplify the homepage.

Details please
Hi Walter
I've been generally acknowledging that the events list pages aren't up to scratch compared to the old site. It's the section on the new site I've been least happy with and I'm already working on streamlining them to remove the complexity of the worst event list layouts.
As noted elsewhere, the default auditions page layout
http://www.theatre.asn.au/auditions
has been changed back to something resembling the old layout but I'm not getting any feedback about whether that has been helpful or not....
> please can you simplify the homepage
I can only please some of the people some of the time, I'm afraid.
:-)
Some people have complained that there wasn't enough information available in one place without going all over the site. Could you possibly be more specific?
The home page layout is almost identical to the old way, just with some additional blocks along the sides.
It's worth noting that if you find the extra blocks too much, many of them can be switched off in your personal account settings, if logged in.
> as a lecturer
I've worked in higher ed on and off for nearly fifteen years. I'm not going to comment on the online navigation skills of the lecturing staff I know.

Audtions page feedback
Hi Grant
Well, my feedback on the recent change to the Auditions page is "Hurrah!" - it is now looking similar to its old self - clean, simple & user-friendly.
The only thing I did notice is that when I view auditions by individual state, it goes back to being all coloured-stripy and difficult... hopefully this is a temporary thing...?
Thanks Grant - you've put an amazing amount of work into this site.

Very.
:-)
Just the remainder of the event displays to clear up.

Detail bone connected to de backbone
I reckon the home page is working for me. Most of the information is the same as on the old website, but you need to scroll down a bit more on the same page to get everything.
I like the fact that the initial post of a topic doesn't get bumped off the front page by every comment that comes after.
I like the fact that you can still read a list of all the recent comments...if there was some way of identifying which ones I'd read and which I'd not read, that'd be useful.
I like the idea that the top four or five read posts are spotlighted at the top of the page...although the problem with this is that they are automatically going to attract more readers and therefore potentially never get bumped off the list. It might be more useful if they were highlighted on the basis of merit scores...the most popular topics as far as reader's ratings?
It was interesting in the old site to click on 'who's online' and actually see which posts were being read...so you could follow the most popular topics. That information is now under the menu 'About/Statistics'. The more this website is used again, the more accurate and useful that section will be. (Although again, making the list will artificially keep you on the list).
Once we're off the home page, I'm still getting a handle on how to navigate around information. I liked seeing conversations in threaded view; it's a little different how that's laid out now.
Getting a handle on rating (moderating) posts...good that you can only do this once per log-in...but you can also edit your opinion of a post up or down.
In the drop down menu for 'polls' there is no option to 'admin polls'. So currently I have no way of acting as poll-meister, if anyone's wondering.
Still exploring; also, going on tour for two weeks. More comments later.
Cheers,
Craig

Bone picking
Hi Craig
Thanks once again for your constructive and useful feedback!

Actually this is precisely how this works. If you're logged in, you'll notice that you can vote for topics. Once a topic reaches the threshold (currently very low at two excellent votes!), then the item is promoted to the front page.
So get voting folks!

If you're logged in, click on "my account" in the personal navigation block to the left and Edit your personal settings.
Partway down the page you'll find a number of checkboxes next to blocks you can enable and disable - including, Popular Content. Try enabling this one.
:-)

Threading will happen with all new comments but sadly we lost it for the old ones. I realise too that the little connecting lines helped when trying to follow the thread of a discussion. I may be able to reinstate something like this at some stage.

Sorry Craig! Yes, no admin poll section. But you should see an edit tab above the current poll - and every old poll for that matter. Also the Add Poll item in the Polls menu at the top of the page will work for you and only one or two other people. So, please feel free!
Thanks again!
