Private messages fixed

Thanks Na. I promise not to tell anyone that the problem has fixed itself. ;-) Excellent idea starting a topic for problems with the new website. If people post most of the issues with the new site here, we'll keep them out of the way of the rest of what's going on. Cheers Grant

That's cool. I thought it

That's cool. I thought it would be good for people to have a thread to chat about the problems, since there will be a lot of posts flying over the next few days. On a side note - when I look at a user's profile, or a post that's not mine, my template reverts to the adc one, rather than seeing everything through 'goofy'. Is this what happens everytime I view something that doesn't involve any of my posts? More issues

I've been trying to add a company, but it's telling me that I'm trying to add a poll on the left-hand side (in the account box). And when I tried to use the vector map thing, it came up with a 'page doesn't exist' message. Plus, when I tried to preview the company addition, it came up with a blank page. Add Venue

Hello Grant Tried to add a venue but I could not preview it as there was an error on the page. Filled in all of the red asterix (does it ask you to do that ?) but I suspect it may be the map co-ordinates, but that is a compulsory red asterix so can't bypass it. Don

Add venue error - work around

Hi Don

Thanks very much for reporting the error. This one will be tricky to fix - should get it done overnight.

The error can be safely ignored - in fact, depending on your web browser and how it is set up, many people will never see an error message at all.

So if you see an error message pop-up, just select "no" or "cancel" when prompted to debug.... at least until later tonight when I get it fixed.

Cheers
Grant

Personal theme settings

Hi Na

Thanks again for all the great feedback!

> I view something that doesn't involve any of my posts?

That's pretty much it. The goofy theme will apply to your profile, blog and some other items of content that you create when others view it.

When you view other's profiles or posts, you see the theme they've selected.

The theme stuff would probably work better if we had two or more related themes. As it is, it makes things look a bit messy. I'm tempted to disable goofy again until the themes are sorted out properly.

What do you think?

Cheers
Grant

Re: personal theme settings

Yeah, I agree, it seems a bit messy when you change over from each theme. Perhaps it would be easier (then again, what do I know?) to have the theme apply to each person as they select it. Ie. I see goofy on all the pages I view, while someone else selects adc and sees that on all the pages they view. In the meantime, I really like my goofy look... A few more fixes

Hi Na I'm going to have to put you on a salary... ;-) Thanks again these are really useful reports! > I've been trying to add a company, but it's telling me that I'm > trying to add a poll on the left-hand side (in the account box). This would only have appeared for contributors but won't any more! > And when I tried to use the vector map thing, it came up with a > 'page doesn't exist' message. Whoops! Hard coded address for old site that Google won't allow, now works fine! > Plus, when I tried to preview the > company addition, it came up with a blank page. Hmmm there was a javascript error but that shouldn't have caused this. Some of the caching seems to be causing these problems. If you refresh the blank page you'll be asked if you want to submit the details again, say yes and it should work. Cheers Grant
administratorSat, 18 Mar 2006, 08:45 pm

Add venue error now fixed.

Okay, a bit later than originally planned, but the javascript error won't appear now. No longer need to use the work around described above - in fact, you can't because you won't get any error message. Cheers Grant

Company searches

Hi Walter

Thanks for the kind feedback. Yes, I always new it would be toughest for the people who have worked to make this site what it is... the thousands of contributors and participants that have added their details over the years, but as you read in this blog entry, these weren't casual  changes, they had to be made.

> now i have been trying to look up companies in wa
> and the page just comes up blank??

I suspect this may be the same problem Na describes above when she added an entry.

If you're getting a completely blank page appear, please try refreshing or reloading the screen.

I will resolve this issue, but I it's happening so unpredictably that it may take a while to sort out.

Cheers
Grant

Refreshing related content

Hi Craig

> I've just been adding details to my profile.
> When I click 'search for items related to you'
> I get sent to a blank page with no response.

When you click on add to actor or whatever to add a production to your profile, the page should reload and a small message "The relationship has been added" should appear near the title of the production indicating that the item was added. Also, you should find that the "Add to whatever" link down below the production changes to "Delete from whatever".

Is this happening for you? I've tried it with a few different types of account and it seems to be working fine. Anyone else having the same trouble? It's very, very unlikely to be a Safari issue.

Cheers
Grant

Mailing list working

Whoops! Search and replace over-run error. Now fixed. :-) I'll be replacing the mailing list with a choice of three hourly, daily and weekly enewsletters that will allow people to tailor the sorts of items they want to hear about. 90% there. In fact if you check your account settings you'll notice you can sign up for the weekly issue and adjust your preferences. You just won't receive any issues immediately. Cheers Grant

I'm Living in the 1970's...

....I feel like I've lost my keys, I got the right day but I've got the wrong week.... Clicked on my company listing (Cutsnake Comedy) to find out why they're not appearing in the gig guide. I tried to update it before, but that was probably when I was having problems with rich text. Clicked the most recent show, which appears to be Jan/Feb 2006, so I could cut and paste the info into a new listing for Mar/Apr....but the calendar on the event listing says 1970....! This is probably connected to jan c's complaint above. ....and I get paid for just being a freak... Craig ~<8>-/====\---------

Drawing a Blank

When I go to What's On for This Week, I get a lot of entries, and scrolling down I see many that I know are from Perth. But when I use the filter to return only entries that are from Perth, I get a blank page. Could it be that these entries haven't identified themselves as being from Perth in the first place....because they were listed before that function was introduced? Therefore, they don't make the 'from Perth' list, even though they are? Cheers, Craig a~<8>-/====\---------

You've answered your own question.

:-)

Mind you if you make your search a little broader and check for events in WA, you will find they do come up. Future events can just be a little more specific.

Suggestions anyone for other cities towns that should appear in the list?

Cheers
Grant

Still can't list events

Still having trouble listing my company and/or productions. Cutsnake Comedy doesn't seem to show up in the list of companies, and I've been trying to list a recurring event (The Big HOO HAA on Saturday nights) but while it gives the impression that the listing was successful, nothing shows up in any of the 'What's On' lists.. Although it's not ultimately working for me, I quite like the new format for listing dates of a show...particularly for a regular weekly event - the old website system was a nightmare, this calendar seems great. Although no end result, yet! Cheers, Craig ~<8>-/====\---------
Grant MalcolmSun, 26 Mar 2006, 04:38 am

Listing events

Hi Craig Thanks for picking the company one up! The company issue was definitely mine to look at. Appears that if you listed companies with a city location within a state, the company didn't appear in that state's listing. Now fixed! Sorry the event's not appearing! Are we talking about this one? http://www.theatre.asn.au/node/20410 It looks to me like it is only listed to appear in Jan and Feb 2006? When I check the (urgh! shudder! must fix this!) monthly view for Jan and Feb 2006, I find the HOO-HAA listed third from the top: http://www.theatre.asn.au/event/2006/02/26/month/flexinode-1/all Another safari problem? :? Cheers Grant
crgwllmsSun, 26 Mar 2006, 04:17 pm

Listing events

Yes, that's the event I'm trying to get listed. When I go to the drop down menus on the home page and click 'Companies/view company/WA" I get taken to a list of companies, but Cutsnake Comedy doesn't appear. If I then click on 'choose another state or territory' but choose WA again, Cutsnake then appears in the listing. (As the only company listed as 'Perth' - every other is 'WA'.) So cities are still not always appearing as subsets of the state listing. I've tried updating the event you selected, which was listed (under the old website system, where you could only specify two months) as Jan/Feb. I added future dates, but they don't appear in the current What's On listings. I've tried listing a totally new production, with Mar/April dates, like I used to, by just cutting and pasting the previous info into a new production. I don't get asked for password information to update the company...I'm assuming the website somehow knows I'm the company administrator? But when I come to save the information, nothing appears on the What's On section, or under the page for Cutsnake. Problem still exists...and I guess nobody knows about the hilarious improv comedy show that happens every Saturday night at the Brisbane Hotel, North Perth...the BIG HOO HAA. Cheers, Craig ~<8>-/====\---------

WEBSITES

Hi Grant, this is the first time I've been on the site for months, years..even. Good work. Just a quick question, previously when looking at companies their website links were available and you could click and go directly to their website. Have I missed selecting anything in my profile that will allow this or have their links all been taken off for a reason? cheers Shafira :-)
