Auditioning for drama school, theatre companies, or a classical production? The Queensland Shakespeare Ensemble's 16-hour intensive class (4 hours per session) helps you find yourself in Shakespeare's words so you can speak with clarity and truth no matter who's in the room. Small class size ensures you'll receive text work that's personally tailored to what you need most, and a final in-class "audition" helps you get ready for the big day. AUDITIONING WITH CLASSICAL TEXT * Discover your unique connection to Shakespeare's words * Keep centred no matter what your auditors ask of you * Stay flexible and present in your audition * Practice performing under pressure * Learn basic audition skills Suitable for performers of varied experience, from school students auditioning for acting courses to professional actors looking to hone their skills and audition techniques. ABOUT THE TEACHER Anne Pensalfini has been teaching for QSE since 2002 and, as a Core Member, has trained regularly with the company in Shakespeare text, voice and Theatre of the Oppressed. Anne has also directed for the Ensemble (Coriolanus '02 and numerous incarnations of Shakespeare's Shorts) and has worked and trained extensively with Shakespeare & Company in Massachusetts. Originally from the USA, Anne's eclectic career includes experience as an actress, teacher, director and improvisational comedienne. Anne has enjoyed opportunities to play Claudia in QTC¹s 2006 production of "The Woman Before;" to study, teach and perform improv comedy (locally with EDGE Improv and others, and abroad in Chicago, Minneapolis and on board the Disney Cruise line); to teach drama to young people from ages three to high school; to teach for the University of Queensland and Griffith University; and to act in numerous other stage shows and over 150 commercials, industrials and business theatre events (after auditioning for 5 times that).
