Fremantle Festival

Sunday 12 November 2006

Okay so the Fremantle Festival begins on (Friday) the 17th of November. It runs for about 10 days and finished on (Sunday) the 26th of November. The Festival is oe of several that the City of Fremantle holds each year and is always a good day out. And I believe that the saying "Fun for the wholse family" actually applies well. Theres anything from live performances, workshops, markets, dance, theatre, puppetry, film, music, visual arts, fireworks and parades. These events run throughout the week. The festival opens with a parade in Kings Square that moves to South Terrace at 6:30pm on Friday the 17th and closes with another parade at 4pm on South Terrace on the 26th of November. There are fireworks that night, carnival during that day. For a little taste of what is happening other then the carnival, parades and fireworks there is much to be done and lot of it free. Theatre wise Spare Part Puppet Theatre is holding "Three Women, True Life Tales of WWII" (tickets available now), Murdoch Uni has the "Young Playmakers Fetival", in Kings Square theres the "Mad Hastters Tea Party" and "The Deadly DAngerous Rat: Where are you?" FTI has "Animators vs the World" screening, as well asother events during the week. In terms of dance "Dancefever" is at the Town Hall, the Fly by Nights Musicians Club and the Kulcha club also have events on sich as the "Song and Dance night", "Harrissa Club" and "Dance enhancement" There are also dance workshops running at various times during the week. Music wise Little Birdy is playing at the Metropolis Concert Club, the John Butler Trio Live is also at Metro's Club, Park Groove FREE at the Esplanade Reserve, Garage Kids Ball at the Fly By Night Musicians Club amongst many others. This fetival is a great way to spend a day (or several as I will be) and at pretty resonable prices. Bring yourself in a comfy pair of shoes, a little bit of cash, a camera (Best photo opportunities ever) oh and of course dont forget to bring a friend, or the misses, or the kids etc etc. For more details and specifics on the events mentioned and others that were not mentioned (theres plenty of them) see this site > > > www.fremantlefestivals.com < < < And click on the Freo Frestival link (The street arts festival was earlier this year) ~ Tari
