Boiled Cabbage Volume 1
Monday 15 September 2008
Well, it seems that the Adelaide Fringe rolls around again quicker and quicker every year. Here I am only six months after the end of the last fringe already registered for the 2009 Fringe with my cast ready to go and my publicity already in the middle stages of preparation.
Scapegoat, my 2008 fringe production went well and I have high hopes for this one. It is probably the funniest comedy I've written and covers the Second World War in an hour. The research to ensure the timeline was accurate was quite extensive and took some time but I am happy it's right.
The show is quite physical, another new departure for me, and has a huge number of costume changes and a lot of running on and off stage, we are using the music of WWII and also recorded extracts from the great speeches of the war.
I hope that the play will make some points about how the roles of women in society were changed by the war and how it affected the ordinary public.
I don't start rehearsals for sometime so will probably not report any further for a while.
