Writer wanted!
Wednesday 12 March 2008
Position is now closed
I am in need of a writer. I'm in the early stages of creating a brand new puppet project. At this moment, not much can be said about it except the following:
The project will be a short puppet film. The puppets used will most likely be muppets.
There is a possibility for ongoing writing work, however, it will be voluntary initially. I'm hoping to turn the project into a web series, so the first script needs to be open-ended in terms of character relationships, etc.
I need a script at least 3 min. long, no more than 10 minutes. I need something that has a set of 4 or 5 characters, each one must be distinct. I'm thinking something along the lines of Homestar Runner (google it), Daria, or Angry Beavers (the last two were on the ABC years ago) in terms of the type of content.
The script needs to be adult-oriented, but not family unfriendly. It has to be witty, and must be easy to stage with no elaborate props or sets. Something that is self-reflective, and can poke fun at itself, would also be good.
I'm not particularly fussed on the content or storylines, although the characters need to be something easily visualised in puppet form and can be used over a long period of time without getting boring.
I am, however, looking for refined writing, something a bit different, something that will capture an online audience.
(I should add: this is not location specific. Any writing done can be done via the net, so feel free to apply even if you're not in my area - Melbourne)
If anyone is interested, please let me know: rrseams at yahoo dot com. Do submit a sample of your writing (or two), as well as a pitch for the script. The pitch can be a short para or two on the idea, but I would be very interested in seeing a short 3 min. script that could be used for the pilot. I'm very impatient to get this started, so do send asap!
