Funding your shows - a biennial plan
Monday 23 March 2009
Some or many of you may remember that last year I set up something called 'The Bump In Project'. It was designed to help local artists produce their work at the Melbourne Fringe and offered a small grant for the winning applicants. I had hoped to offer it again this year, but lack of funds means I can't. I'm saving up and will hopefully offer it again next year.
If anyone is interested in supporting local Aussie performers - like yourselves - make the leap from emerging to professional, you can help me out a little... more info is here.
Please pass on the word - last year I was able to help fund three performances, and I'm really disappointed I can't run it again this year. I'm hoping that if there was enough funds to set up something similar for the Melb Comedy Festival, the Adelaide Fringe, and something in Perth; I would definitely need people in those cities to help me on an admin level, since I'm not familiar with the set up or requirements to stage shows in those festivals. If we all got together, we could help support each other and get our work out there. Perhaps if there was enough financial and moral support, there could be a reviewing system too, where we could award some funds to the best show of the festival.
Lastly, I just want to thank those of you who did apply last year and hoped to apply again this year. Do keep watching my website for more news; or alternatively contribute your services, pass the word around, and we can help keep the grant going.
