My Journey to the Adelaide Fringe 2008 chapter 6

Well I haven't been around for a while because ... well there are several reasons. One was the issue of censorship over the Wizard of Oz thread, one was that I have changed from Internet explorer to Mozilla Firefox and for a while my computer wouldn't let me log on to Theatre Australia and the third was the contract work I had  leading up to the fringe.

Over the last two weeks I have rigged and focused lights in five venues including a tent and a shipping container (talk about small and difficult spaces), installed a PA in one and a playback sound system in another. One of the venues I rigged out was the venue for my own show. It's concrete room with a nine foot ceiling. So while all this was going on I was also attempting to finish the rehearsals for my show and finalise the marketing with the help of our marketing person.

 We open next Tuesday. We have some advance bookings (over 100) which for the Fringe ain't half bad. Costume is finalised with comparatively few problems and my delightful partner has found the sound effects and sorted them for me.

We will be ready. The score written specially for the play is great and we have our tech rehearsal tomorrow evening and the last dress Monday night. The actors are champing at the bit. They know the lines but are stuffing them up a bit now because they need a real audience.

WE are sharing the venue witha person who is a bit untidy unfortunately. She spreads sand around during her show and doesn't seem all that good about cleaning it up and one of my actors is in bare feet. Nevermind we will sort it out and if that is our only problem we are doing fine.

We have reviewers coming both Tuesday and Thursday night and I will post excerpts from the reviews both good and bad when I have them. I don't believe there is anyone in Adelaide who would write a review for this space but if there is you are very welcome.

Here we go then. It's curtain time. Beginners please. (Wait a minute I'm not a beginner I've done this before.)
