February blues
Monday 11 February 2008
I'm feeling the February blues... This is usually a good time of year, because the arts world starts to wake up again after the holidays, but this year...
Some of you may have read/guessed, I'm currently seeking employment (again), and not feeling very happy about it. It's either get an arts admin job - something which after 6 years of trying is getting rather depressing - or do some temp work until something better comes along.
This isn't a whinge post, but rather a request:
I'm bored at the moment, and while I try desperately to convince myself to get up out of bed and do something constructive while I have the time - I do have some plans, but motivation is lacking - I'm asking you all to share your employment/unemployment woes.
If you're feeling just as worried about job security as I am, let's help each other get motivated. Anybody got some projects that they'd love to share/discuss?
Here's what I'd be working on if I weren't feeling so blue:
I'm in the middle of getting some puppets built for my store, but I'm also thinking, as a way of earning some money, setting up some puppetry classes in the next couple of months. There's the second round of my 'Bump In Project', of which the first round failed miserably last year. I probably can't afford the second round now that I have no job. So, yeah, there's another failed project... Hmmm... not much else to speak of.
Did I mention I'm turning 26 next week? Ah, unemployed, blue, and bored all on my b'day.
(Ok, so I may have been premature saying it wasn't a whinge)
Hope all of you are having better times with employment/auditions/whathaveyou; feel free to jump on the blues bandwagon and share your employment worries.
