wanna be singer

i wanna sing for a liveing....i want to be famous. i sing all different types of music but mostly pop/rock and choir music...i can sing and i was in the AYC (australian youth choir) for a year (i was made to leave by my parents who though it was a wast of money and my talent)...all i need to know is how i can get myself heard by the right people...and who the right people are...i dont really want an agent or anything like that because my frined says it is a wast (hes an actor)...i have also writen some songs with the help of my BFF....and i want to sing some of them...who do i need to see.
