Stuff Ups, Ad Libs and Saying Goodbye

We have our final night tonight of "Our Name is Smith" It really is a shame that our school community cannot support us for more than the two nights of performances. It simply is not big enough yet to be able to. So opening night (last night) biggest fear - i think - for most performers is stuffing up. Well I'm now a classic example! lol. I'm onstage for literally no more than five seconds and stuff up. I run across the stage and am suposed to screech to a halt half way across the stage but with no grip on my boots had a wonderful fall! and stacked it! first minute of the play and one stuff up down! three to go! lol. Of course it's not all bad. At least it suited the stupidity of my character to say the least and most people thought it was suppose to happen. Which i guess is always a good thing. Lol. But now they want me to do it again tonight but boy did it hurt! lol . My behind is still sore!!! lol. So i'm asking people for their favourite stuff ups onstage that they themselves have achieved. . . How many times have you had to cover someone with the classic use of Ad Libs?! Luckily for me it was one simple line that my partner forgot and it didn't look out of place when i said it. Ad Libs are always amusing for actors and nail biting for directors! lol but they help keep a performer on their toes! So again any classic adlib moments in any production you've been part of in any form. . . . And finally saying goodbye to your characters. It's rather emotional (well for me anway). You explore this persons being and live with them for months on end and then you need to say goodbye. I only get to show people my character twice but i've been working with Estragon for a good four months or so now, exploring his life style, personality etc to help bring him to life. And though at first i wasn't too fond of him i've grown to love his quirkyness and laziness and will honestly miss him when you have to pack the costume away and turn off the stage lights on him for ever (well you think is forever). Estragon is one of my favourite characters to have worked with and i'll be sad to have to put him away again. But again i'd like to know people's thoughts on saying goodbe to characters we work with for so long and then are forced to hang up on a costume rack. So favourite characters you've played and wish you could drag out again??? ~ Tari
